A History

Lexcode starts its first step as an affiliate language research center of a college in Korea in 1999. Then it becomes a non-profit organization handling small translation projects from local governments or publishers. In 2002, its current CEO, Young Ham, joins the organization as co-owner after spending 13 years in the USA where he served in the US Army for six years and obtained a master’s degree in computer information management.

He launches an English résumé service that has brought small yet significant profit to the company.

Its commercial step begins in the spring of 2004 when Young Ham moves to a bigger town, Cheonan, with Misoon Park, operating director and the company’s right hand, and Sumi Noh, as the technical director. Though it begins with only three people, the company grows over 40% annually—thanks to its excellent services and very high customer retention rate.

Within three years, in 2007, the company opens another office in Seoul and moves its headquarters to the city in 2009—becoming one of major players in the industry. One of the top three translation/interpretation agencies in the nation with seven specialized websites, 15 full time employees, over 500 freelancers, more than 5,000 projects yearly, and up to 2 million dollars’ revenue –these are our company statistics at the end of 2009.

Year 2010 begins strongly with its first overseas branch in the Philippines after Young Ham visited the beautiful land with his staff for a vacation. He decided to make it another paradise of quality translation services as English is widely spoken and people are naturally congenial. Among hundreds of competitive applicants, four excellent and fully-charged individuals are selected as crewmen to sail the ‘Lexcodian’ ship in the nation.
